PROP was approached by Sherry who worked as a former Public Health Consultant at the City of Toronto and her husband Paul who is the Principal of a local high school. They decided that they wanted to stay in the house they had resided in for many years and make it better to suit their daily life after many years of dedicated work they now had some time to make the space work for them. As homeowners, Sherry and Paul grew accustomed to their daily life and worked around the space that they were used to and knew there was a better way to approach the layout. We listened to their needs and we expanded storage space, made it brighter, more spacious and into the dream kitchen that they had always wanted and as a bonus, they got the smoked wood herringbone floors they had always dreamed of having.
Derrick enabled us to transform the main floor of our small 1918 semi into a functional beautiful space by guiding us throughout the process and navigating the maze of choices. He is a highly skilled, diligent, design savvy professional.
Our layout now maximizes function. We easily access tailor-made storage with plenty of counter space. Light floods in from an enlarged window and French doors looking out to the garden. Derrick’s custom walnut shelving units store everything we need – from books to wine, dishes and even shoes.
Derrick went “above and beyond”- helping us to select contractors and taking us to design shops to select finishes and furnishings. We highly recommend Derrick as your Architect for any project. He addresses all details from start to finish. He has excellent communication skills, a friendly demeanour and frankly – we really enjoyed working with him.
