Prop Architecture / Residential Design

Martell-Shreim Residence

Situated in Toronto’s Cabbagetown neighbourhood, the homeowners requested our help to obtain the necessary building permits and design their entire home. Due to the length and configuration of the home, there was a strong desire to bring in as much natural light through the cooking, dining, and living spaces. With that in mind, we maximized the kitchen window and designed an open tread staircase with a glass partition.

Cooking is a favourite activity and pastime of one of the homeowners, so we designed a gourmet kitchen with a generous island that seats four. On the second floor we turned dated and impractical bathrooms into relaxing everyday retreats.

“We first started working with Prop to transform our 1880s Victorian into a modern open concept dream. The house had undergone many transformations over its history and they brought our home into the modern era. We wanted a bright, modern space on the interior and his commitment and talent delivered beyond our expectations. As first-time home renovators he guided us through the process with patience and professionalism. We would definitely work with Prop again and recommend them to anyone looking to transform their home.”
