Barton-Schmidt
Residence
Our clients, Sherry worked as a former nurse at the City of Toronto and her husband Paul who is the Principle of a local high school. They decided that they wanted to stay in the house they had resided in for many years and tailor it to suit their daily life. After many years of dedicated work they now had some time to make the space work for them.
As homeowners, Sherry and Paul grew accustomed to their daily life and worked around the space that they were used to and knew there was a better way to approach the layout and functions. We listened to their needs and designed for expanded storage space, brighter and more spacious spaces, and created the dream kitchen that they had always wanted. As their own personal bonus, they selected smoked wood herringbone floors they had always dreamed of having.

“Prop enabled us to transform the main floor of our small 1918 semi into a functional beautiful space by guiding us throughout the process and navigating the maze of choices. Derrick is a highly skilled, diligent, design savvy professional.
Our layout now maximizes function. We easily access tailor-made storage with plenty of counter space. Light floods in from an enlarged window and French doors looking out to the garden. The custom walnut shelving units store everything we need – from books to wine, dishes and even shoes.
They went above and beyond – helping us to select contractors and taking us to design shops to select finishes and furnishings. We highly recommend them as your architect for any project. They addressed all details from start to finish. We really appreciated their excellent communication skills, friendly demeanour and frankly – we really enjoyed working with them.”
